Clean Up!

CLEAN UP!
MOST OF US ARE AWARE OF THE STATE OF OUR HOUSES, OUR CLOTHES, OUR HAIR – BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR INNARDS

We have some phenomenal abilities in the internal cleansing line. Organs such as our kidneys and liver filter the bloodstream; our lymphatic system cleanses fluid from our intestines; bladder and bowels jettison what we don’t need; lungs offload carbon dioxide to help keep our blood at the right pH; and our skin sweats out salt.

All extremely clever; but there are a few things that can gum up the works and make the cleansing process less effective.

TOO MANY INPUTS: DO YOU...?
  • Smoke or come into contact with other people’s smoke regularly
  • Drink more alcohol than the advised limits
  • Eat junk food regularly
  • Drink a great deal of coffee or tea or fizzy drinks such as coke
  • Spend a lot of time in or near traffic
  • Come into contact with chemicals through your work
TOO FEW OUTPUTS: DO YOU...?
  • Have days when your bowel doesn’t move at all
  • Have days when you don’t drink at least 1.5 litres of still, plain
  • Have days when you don’t eat any fresh fruit or vegetables
  • Have days when you don’t get out into the fresh air for a little brisk exercise

If any of these factors are common features in your life then your body may be struggling to deal with the load you are putting on it.

SIGNS THAT YOU MAY BENEFIT FROM A CLEAN-UP:

Skin problems, catarrhal congestion, bloating, fatigue, recurrent cystitis and other UTIs, frequent colds, headaches, bad breath, a thickly coated tongue.

Other problems can cause these symptoms, so talk to your healthcare practitioner if some cleansing activity doesn’t improve things.

HOW TO CLEANSE
  • Don’t be a camel: put loads of water in, otherwise your body will think there’s a drought and hang onto every drop. On top of your water, drink golden rod tea, fennel tea, or nettle tea to help your kidneys release uric acid.

Nettles are mineral-rich and full of constituents that help reduce inflammation,1 reducing the pain of conditions such as gout and arthritis.2

  • One in: one out… Ideally, your bowel will move roughly in ratio to your meal intake. If things aren’t quite as regular as you would like, you may find you’re bloated and windy or gassy. Eat more warm, cooked vegetables, have wholegrains rather than white bread, rice and pasta, and try a course of Molkosan Fruit, which contributes to the normal function of digestive enzymes.
  • Boost your circulation with exercise, at least a brisk 10-minute walk in the fresh air daily to get the lymphatic system and lungs working.

New research has shown the benefits of staying active when it comes to reducing your chances of dying from CoVid-19.3 This study looked at people aged 49 to 80, and found that anything above a low level of physical activity conferred protection – super encouraging news! Just going from inactivity to doing some low-to-moderate exercise made a difference, as did doing exercise consistently. So, a daily walk, however gentle the pace, is way better than no walk!

Support your metabolism with a supplement from the sea! Kelp contains naturally occurring iodine for normal thyroid function and metabolism support. This is great for the metabolic processes in your body which give you energy, enabling you to get out there and bounce around, getting your blood flowing and lymph moving, which promotes cleansing processes.

You can’t use Kelp if you are on thyroid medication or have a recognised thyroid disorder.

  • And relax… Unwind for at least 30 minutes before going to bed to encourage better sleep, as your body carries out heaps of detoxifying processes through the night hours.
